VDE Südbayern honors VoltStorage with the VDE Award for technical performance.
Munich, 22 November 2018 – For the tenth time already, the Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik (VDE) Südbayern (Association of Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of Southern Bavaria) has presented the VDE Award. The award is presented to young scientists and graduates in the field of electrical engineering, but also to young companies from Southern Bavaria who have distinguished themselves through special achievements in the fields of science and business.
VoltStorage was also awarded the VDE Award 2018 for its special technological achievements in the field of battery storage development. VDE Südbayern thereby honors the development of the world’s first low-cost home battery system for solar energy based on the ecological Vanadium Redox Flow (VRF) technology. This allows VoltStorage to establish a storage technology to the mass market that is free from rare or conflict raw materials as well as completely recyclable.
„With the VDE Award we would like to honor outstanding achievements and the commitment to more enthusiasm for technology among the population“, said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Petra Friedrich, Chairwoman of VDE Southern Bavaria. The founding team around Jakob Bitner (CEO), Michael Peither (CTO) and Felix Kiefl (CPO) was personally on site to receive the award. In addition to guests from the industry, university and the media, the presence of Bernd Sibler, Bavarian Minister of State for Science and Arts, underlined the importance of the VDE Award.
