VoltStorage expands department for product development
Mark Daniel and Wenchang Zhang join VoltStorage to strengthen product development.
Munich, 01 August 2019 – VoltStorage has been developing ecological energy storage solutions based on Vanadium Redox Flow technology since 2016. After last year’s market launch of the world’s first low-cost home battery system based on this storage technology, VoltStorage now expanded its Product Development Department with two engineering experts.
Mark Daniel has worked in Australia, New Zealand, Portugal and Great Britain in the development of various products and technologies, such as aircraft construction, micro-manufacturing and microfluidics. He has already played a key role in two patent developments. „With more than 15 years of professional experience, Mark brings a great deal of know-how to the company. His broad range of experience will help us to further optimize existing solutions and successfully tackle new product developments,“ says Felix Kiefl, who as VoltStorage CPO is responsible for managing the entire product development process.
Wenchang Zhang studied Mechanical Engineering and Production System Engineering in China and at the well-known RWTH Aachen University. In the past, he has worked in China and Germany in robotics development and sealing systems. „Wenchang convinced us with his enormously structured analytical approach, which is crucial in the development of complex Redox Flow components,“ says VoltStorage CPO Felix Kiefl.
With Mark and Wenchang, the VoltStorage Product Development Department now comprises more than ten employees. In future, the focus of development work will be the further optimization of the design of Redox Flow cells and the development of larger storage systems for commercial customers. „Redox Flow energy storage systems continue to be a product segment in which almost all important key components cannot be purchased externally. These components are the result of in-house development work. With the increase of our Product Development team we want to create the necessary resources, in order to extend our product offer in the future,“ says VoltStorage CEO Jakob Bitner.
More about VoltStorage
VoltStorage develops and produces solar energy storage systems based on the ecological Redox Flow technology. With its sustainable storage solutions, VoltStorage follows the vision of making 100% renewable energies available around 24/7 – and thus making the world cleaner and fairer.
VoltStorage is the first company worldwide to make the Redox Flow Technology, which has been successful in the large storage segment for years, available as a home storage solution for private households. This was made possible by VoltStorage’s production process, for which a patent is pending. For the first time this allows automated and thus cost-effective production of Redox Flow batteries.
With the Redox Flow technology, the company can establish a storage technology in the mass market that is free from rare materials and conflicting raw materials, is completely recyclable and also has a high level of operational reliability and longevity.
